bio.
Born in Schenectady New York in 1954 and based in Fairfield Iowa. I started writing songs in 2004 after circumstances in my life coalesced to provide the space, energy and inspiration for it. Before turning to songs I had occasionally been writing poems and stories since college days, during which time I studied English literature, with a particular interest in poetry.
After college I traveled around the USA and lived in various places in Colorado, California, Oregon and Washington and held various jobs from restaurant work to social services. In 1994, I started traveling around Europe and stayed in Germany where I lived in Berlin for 12 years teaching ESL, doing editing and German to English translating work. During my stay there, poems and stories particular to my time abroad started to emerge, later I bought a guitar and started to play a bit. By the last two years in Berlin I had started writing songs.
